Kamchatka commemorates Great Patriotic War with Memory Candle campaign
The Memory Candle campaign dedicated to the beginning of the Great Patriotic War has started in Kamchatka. On June 22 at 4 a.m., the participants of the event lighted their candles at Freedom Square in Petropavlovsk-Kamchatsky in honor of the memory of the fallen during the Great Patriotic War.

More than one hundred representatives of youth and veteran organizations took part in the event. The Governor of Kamchatka region, Vladimir Ilyukhin, and the Senior Deputy Chairman of the Legislative Assembly, Lev Boitsov, also participated in the event. Together with other people they put flowers at a monument in honor of Kuril Airborne Division, honored the memory of the fallen with a minute of silence and made a word "Remember" out of candles, putting them at a monument. The veterans of the Great Patriotic War shared their memories of the first day of war.
